Copper Bowl
While at MIT, I learned how to Metalsmith. Starting with a copper sheet , I hammered it, until it took its concave shape. When the copper became too hard to work, I annealed it, so I could continue hammering the softer metal. The cycle of hammering and annealing continued for hours until the copper properly took the shape of a bowl. Next, taking a chisel, I punched small lines that created gears onto the bowl, along with the letters M-E-C-H-E and a lightning bolt to symbolize my passion for energy and making. Finally, I enameled my piece by sprinkling powdered glass into the groves before firing it.
